I have had this for 4 years and it has kept flowering without fault for the past 3 years. This year it appears to have a (basal) keikie forming, 2 new spikes and last years spike reflowering (flower opened today) as well as root growth ...
Is it 'normal' or is it showing me It's in some distress I haven't noticed? It was repotted a couple months ago. Here are a few pics.
Nenella, hows the crown of your plant? If everythings ok, then I would say that your plant is happy, healthy and rewarding you with all that activity!
Very pretty bloom btw.
I think that if you see no signs of distress then it's probably just something it's decided to do. My gastrochilus is doing that just now and is also growing roots and new leaves on the parent and seems happy.
From what I can see in the pic yours looks happy so I wouldn't worry.
Thanks Rosie! I won't worry any more..that is until the Keikie grows too big.. which will then mean It won't fit into my 'bottle'...But I'll attack that issue in due time.. I've already started telling hubby I need an aquarium...
I just had a phal do the same thing. Right after I repotted it, two keikis emerged even though the plant is growing really well. I know some types of phals are more likely to produce keikis than others. I don't know about bellina. By the way I'm a big fan of slotted plastic pots like yours. Phals seem to grow really well in them.
