I'll take some--I'll pay for shipping, etc. Really. What's a fair price?
Personally, I would leave them on for a bit, then give away to friends. I like how the keikis look, but I like the roots with the plant & the flowers--to me it looks more exotic.
Ooooo, post a picture.

Maria I have a Den. kingianum that sends out keiki's...I'm planning on taking them to my local orchid society and giving them away or if I don't have any takers then I'll give them away here....I couldn't bear to just toss them in the trash!
P.S....you can add me to your long long list of people who would love to take a keiki off your hands!

Dendrobium kingianum (and its hybrids) lurve throwing keikis often at the expense of flowering. Over the last couple of seasons I have massively reduced the amount of nitrogenous fertalizer that my dendrobes get (only 5 months of the year now @ 50% of the rate I used to use) and the keiki production has dropped away by about 80%. I have no idea how Nitrogen affects non-Australian dendrobes.

Interesting. My kingianum throws keikis all the time. I removed three large ones and suddenly the smaller ones kicked into growth and I have even more large keikis now.
I think I'll try what you say about fertiliser see if it makes a difference.
When I bought my kingianum in November it had no flower spikes and lots of keikis... BUT every single keiki had one or two flowers spikes, even the tiny keikis. I got a great display of flowers in the spring, but found it interesting that it was the keikis flowering and not the mother plant.

Interesting! I bought my kingianum in full flower spike (it had I think about 5 spikes), and since then it has been producing keiki's like crazy! I think there are about 8 or 9 right now. I have not been that good about fertilizing (and never have been with any of my orchids) but who knows what they were feeding it when I got it. I was planning on just leaving the keiki's on.

Several of my Nobile dens did the same thing. Could barely see the keiki for the flower. I just heard at our last society meeting that Kingianums don't like nitrogen. That may be true for many other dens too. I am changing my fertilizing of my nobiles as of now! I want a kingianum and have had 2 chances at our sale table but keep losing out!
