Has anyone tried using media/soil flush to flush to excess fertilizer salts from the media?

I use a product called House and Garden 'Drip Clean' to flush fertilizer salts from my garden plants.

I have started to just use reverse osmosis water with nothing in it and it looks like it is doing a much better job than the tap water ever did. But I had never looked for a product to do that.

That looks like something in the "suspicous" range. Have talked to very good chemists (Like someone who taught chemistry at MIT) about getting salts out of media and believe that Water us probably the best. My understanding is that there is no chemical reaction that will "Reduce" the salt content (At least none that can be used) RO water is probably the best.

It could be that some type of detergent might help disolve the salts and not harm the plant but cannot vouch for anything. It might be that what you are suggesting would fall into this category.

RO or rain water is a good solvent for fertilizer salts. The product you are asking about sounds like the oil/fuel/radiator flushes they are constantly pushing on you the the oil change places.

I have to chime in and say I also use strait RO water if I feel there is salt build up in the media and I want to flush it out.
Just seems to make sense and it avoids adding something that may harm the plants.
