Default Is Paph parishii hard to grow?

I've been looking at the new listings of my favorite ebay seller, and he has a Paph parishii for sale. Love the blooms, and am very tempted to get one!!

But....how difficult is it to grow? I have little experience with paphs (owned 2 for less than a year, then they got lost in the mail- it's a long story!)

From what I read on internet/Orchidwiz, this one takes higher light than most paphs, pure water recommended, hates sour medium, and apparently needs a cool winter(??). For those of you who grow/know it, would you recommend it as a first paph?

Also would you consider a 2 growth plant blooming size? The Ebay description says it is, but I've read on internet that they need to get quite large before blooming.

Thanks for your help!!

This was one of my first orchids and bloomed on every new growth, but maybe that was only because it didn't hear all the warnings.

Lol, I wish all orchids were that easy to bloom! So how do you grow yours, like other paphs?

I'm not a paph expert, and perhaps the PaphMadMan could chime in at some point to this conversation as he seems to know paphs quite well. I have two paph's of my own, and from my reading it sounds as though the paph you are considering buying is no different than normal paphs other than the higher light portion.

No paphs like sour medium and they do need a slight chill in the air to signal blooming from what I understand.

I bought a flask of parishii in the fall of '07 and they have grown well for me. I don't really do anything special for them, but overall paphs grow pretty well for me. They sit out at the edge of my HID lights. I do use RO water with a fertilizer formulated for RO. And I repot about every year or so.

I don't grow it anymore - no room - but when I did it was in a clay pot in osmunda (we're talking the old days hyere) and later in a bark mix. Outside in the shade in summer, indoors under lights in the winter. Nothing special in the way of water or fertilizer.
