Default Favorite Orchid

I would say my favorite orchid is the Rossioglossum Grande. Those large, thick blooms, and the banded yellow and copper brown colors are stunning. The center of the flower is an intricate white/red pattern. I am thinking of buying a Rossioglossum Rawdon Jester so I can see quite similar blooms in early summer. This Grande is a fall bloomer.

I'd have to say either Sophronitis coccinea or any variety of Neofinetia falcata.

The Soph. flower is a stunner and the plant is a bit of a challenge. The Neos. are always so interesting even when not in flower.

Cheers.
Jim

Default Stanhopeas for me!

I think my favorite will be the Stanhopeas, the orchid blooms like no other and the scent is heaven for most species at least!

Good discussion.

My favourite is Dendrochilum auriculare. It is cute, floriferous and a key example why morphologically Dendrochilum should not be broken up.

The orchid that takes my breath away is Trichoglottis atropurpurea (syn brachiata). Wow, what an orchid!

Cheers
Trey

Hmmmmm. Of the ones I have By far are my laelia's!

I have Laelia Pacavia! Its is absolutely Stunning!!!!!! The flowers were consistently 8 inches across! Its a beautiful Primary Hybrid between Laelia Purpurata and Laelia Tenebrosa!

I also have A Laelia Purpurata Var. Carnea it hasn't bloomed yet but it just made a sheath! so this summer i am hopeful!

Now what one do i want??? That i have to say is the hard question!!! I want them all! But sadly it will never happen in this lifetime!

But to pinpoint it i would have to say Phalaenopsis lueddemanniana Red Star! I am actually getting it next week! I love the flowers and the fact that it makes lots a babies! i plan to grow the babies and sell them off! make a little money

Like many of you, my favorite is whatever's blooming. I really do like my new Dendrobium nobile hybrid, and I am planning to buy a few more nobile types in the future because of this plant! I think they will work out well in my growing conditions, they are somewhat fragrant (A huge plus) and they have nice showy blooms. This one is "Sweet Pinky Love"

As for orchids I don't have, I really want a Lycaste aromatica. Not sure why, but I like fragrant orchids, and the yellow color really stands out in my eye. I also think I could grow it pretty well.
