My favorite orchid right now is Blc. Hausermann’s Holiday ‘Christmas’ I received a part of my sisters large plant (that she paid $75 dollars for) when I helped her divide it. I gave her directions as to how to care for her plants. One year after dividing my plant is blooming and growing fine, hers are dying. She didn't follow any of my directions. She asked me to bring them home to try to save them(she had two pieces one large pot with the newer pseudobulbs and one pot with the older pseudobulb). When I took them out of the pots they were almost rootless and the leaves looked terrible. I re-potted them and put them in my green house on a large stone tray with a plastic bag over them. Now the larger plant is going to bloom for me and the smaller has a sheath but no flower yet. I love this plant because it is so resilient and greets me with a wonderful fragrance when I come into the kitchen.
