My question to all of you out there is simply this:

Should I be concerned about NOT watering my orchids for about 4 to 5 days?

Specifics:

Types of orchids: Mostly Catts, 10 Zygos and 20 Miltioniposis, scattered Encylias.

Pot: Open, lined vanda baskets.

Media: Mostly medium bark with chunks of cork, charcoal, expanded clay.

Lighting: All T 5's. (e.g. no "real" daylight)

Temp/Humidity: Controlled. T 70 F degrees at night, 82- 85 F degrees at peak day. Humidity between 70 (night) and 60 (Day)

I typically water every other day and have found the roots and plants generally like this schedule and grow and bloom great without any "issues".

BUT, I need to be out of town for 4- 5 days and was wondering if a lapse in watering would prove to be detrimental to the plants?? (OK, I know that in nature they probably would be going this long without watering this frequently, but just need to know......)

Any ideas, opinions, suggestions, would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any feedback!!

The Catts and Encyclias will be fine. They could go for weeks without water without any problems. Mine get water once a week during the winter. I have never grown Zygos or Miltioniposis but my guess would be that they won't have any problems either.

They should be fine for that short spell most orchids can live without water for a lot longer .
