What would you say the concentration is, Ray? Would it be beneficial for those of us that water from a Brita pitcher? I was thinking of just a couple drops per gallon, but have no idea if that would be effective or not.

Sorry....left that "minor" detail out.
The dosage comes out to be about 1 teaspoon per 10 gallons - at the time of addition. As I use water and it is replaced, the concentration is diluted bit by bit. When I use up the equivalent of a full tankful - judged by eye over several waterings - I add it again.

Physan 20
Not to take away business from Ray, but, Lowe's carries Physan. It cost me around $15.00 for the bottle.

Would this be more beneficial if added to rain water ?as RO is cleaner /purer .Is this worth doing if you use your stored RO fairly quickly ?Do you do this and still treat once a month also ?
I am finding it difficult to think of the benefits of adding it all the time to RO .
So if you can enlighten me .

OMG, I thought I was the only one slumming it with a Brita pitcher until I get a small R/O system!
So, (sorry, major newbie here) if I'm understanding you correctly, you use a small amount of Physan 20 every time you water, regardless of whether your plants are in S/H or not? I'm currently annoying Ray with orders for pots and such every few weeks, so I want to be very careful that I'm not hurting my plants in S/H by dumping a bunch of unnecessary chemicals on them.
Thanks for this thread, I'm fighting off what I think is a bacterial infection in two of my favorite plants, a NoID Zygo and a really beautiful Zygo hybrid. I'm treating with Physan for the infection, but I don't want to overdose my other plants too...

Very few, if any, of the land-locked states have big box stores that carry it though. Just fyi. I've only found it at large garden centers.

consan 20 is pretty much the same stuff at 1% lower than physan 20...I cant find physan 20 in town but almost everyone carries consan 20. Same active ingredient.
I also now dump a tablespoon per gallon into my RW I use after I got smacked hard with erwinia...dont wait till you have a problem to seek the solution.
If you have a need to agitate the water with physan or the consan in it, be prepared for lots of foam...lots of Bubbles so my plants think they taking a bubble bath

1. Physan is a topical disinfectant, Jen. If you have a systemic bacterial rot, the thing to do is to cut off all infected tissue and seal the wound on the plant with cinnamon.
2. Adding Physan to your RO tank is inconsistent. You may have the right dose at first, but when you use some and it refills, it gets more-and-more dilute. Because of that, I am trying adding it to my fertilizer concentrate tank, instead.
