You might also examine the tree farm industry as a side bar. If you are going to be making nursery job one, diversify. Trees do well as small landscape items and need lower maintenance. Small house and garden plants as well. Plan "B" is always a good idea as needs of other items can be used as a cover for unfortunate events in orchid line. Start small and be flexible. Two or three smaller baskets for the eggs.
I hope this helps to encourage.

A good question!
I love all orchids however; it has always been one of my objectives to grow the tiny, weird and botanical orchids that are often over looked or ignored by the showy bloomers. As some of you may know, I love Restrepias, hence my user name. My second objective is to try and grow as many of the species within this genus.
My third objective is one which has already started for me. I am an ebay seller and have just opened my shop. My plans are to start of small and see what happens.
My fourth objective is to trek through the rainforests around the world to see the many orchids that I love growing in the wild!

Mine is to bring me pleasure and to help me relax. Gardening is a VERY relaxing hobby to me and I LOVE IT. Orchids are a part of that joy.

My goal has been to develop a collection sufficiently large and diverse to always have some thing in bloom that I can bring into the house for display.
But wait! That vanda won't conveniently hang in the kitchen window, so I'll have to get something to substitute for it.
But wait! That pleurothallis is so small that it doesn't "hit you" when you walk into the room. I'll need to get something to supplement that.
But wait! That one is so odd, my wife will ask "why would anyone want to grow one of those?" I guess I'll have to find something else to bring in.
But wait.....
