DO you buy Home Depot "baggy orchids"?

I've "bought" from Home Depot. If I see some plants that are in bad shape, but not bad enough where I feel they can't be brought back to life, a little smooth talking has gotten them for free. I've only done this three times and have had great luck with what I got.

I do not. When I first started this hobby, I was very tempted to do so. I felt sorry for the plants.

However, I now as a rule do not buy anything from HD, Lowes, or any NOID. I'd rather save my money to buy a named division or a plant from a reputable grower.

I've bought a few plants from Lowe's. The selection of bagged orchids up my way is pretty impressive. I've pulled a B. Little Stars, Cym. Little Black Sambo, and a gorgeous Oncidium Sweet Sugar out of the bag section, all B.S., and all in pretty great condition.

Couldn't see the picture, guess I didn't see this post way back when it first came out.
I have bought from Lowes a couple times about two years or so ago, but never good luck with blooming them. Still waiting, and no signs of blooms. I would rather buy from a reputable orchid nursery. I don't have the room for the "maybe someday" orchids.

If they sold "bagie orchids" around here I would buy them... probably to put in s/h!

i have a few 'bagged' orchids in my greenhouse....my sis in law felt sorry for them and dragged em up....its been two years healing them, and i finally got a meager bloom this year....not what i would advise for the home grower....they are just not healthy enuf as a rule to provide solid plants....buy from a reputable grower and enjoy your 'chids....

I own quite a few baggie orchids from Lowes amd Home Depot. Like some other people said if you get them fresh and buy the larger ones, they are not a bad investment. I have had relatively good luck with them. They are all happy and healthy.

I have bought most of them since the beginning of the year, but I have the Eplc. Volcano Trick Orange Delight and Bc. Little Marmaid Janet for two years. The Little Marmaid Janet has bloomed twice for me since I have owned it.

I'm impressed and a little jealous! I can never find any half-way decent looking orchids at our local Home Depot. And if there are any orchids, they are diseased looking phals

I like your terms there. I work in a Lowe's Garden Center and the LNS seems to be hell bent on killing the orchids. She does fine with the rest or the plants but i dont care about them any more. I said to her, 'Look, let me take care of the orchids, PLEASE DONT TOUCH THEM, I will do it.' I find my self there on my days off taking bagged 'chids out of a bucket of water that they were to be left in over night. Ahhhh.... Needless to say I get to mark down all my own plants and buy them for a dollar way before they become a phal-a-rot-a-mas.

I just found a few good ones here recently. The new shipment came in and they were tucked behind the old dried up carcasses. I picked up:

Blc. (Lc. Love Knot x B. dygbiana) (unregistered),
Blc. Momolani Rainbow 'The Gypsy' (probably misspelled), and
C. Bactia 'Grape Wax'

The had a few more but I can only sneak so many home at a time.
