Default Orchid Baggies

My Epi. Mabel Kanda was a baggie orchid from HD, it's the only one that has made it out of the OICU (Orchid Intensive Care Unit). I've seen some that shouldn't even be on the shelves offer for sale. I couldn't help but take some of them home to experiment with. After all they were only a $1.00 a on the clearance rack.

Ok, not to , but the key is getting them off of a full rack. When there's only a few left they languish.

Also, I'm with Junebug (page 3). Lowes stocks more so they keep them longer. Sprawl-Mart stocks less, so they get more frequent shipments. Sprawl-Mart's are always newer and nicer here. Plus Lowe's is always 3 bucks more. Just my .

Tho it may be cruel, I had to laugh at beating the horse.
I only wish we had a "Sprawl-Mart" here in So. Ga. I do agree that you get what you pay for....but for a cheapie it's worth it sometimes.

I bought 2 catts. today from Lowes. SMALL ones, look like 1 1/2" pots in white netting type "bags". Re-potted them in 3" pots in LFS moss when I got home. They look healthy enough. They had slightly larger one's as well. All catts though, nothing else.

I love getting the "baggie" orchids. You can't base the orchid on the pic it has on it, but if you know enough you can find some really great one's if you read the tags and look for the good ones. I have bloomed quite a many of these little gems after a year or less out of the larger bags. I think one main key with these is to get one with a new growth that has started and repot it when it gets home. Sometimes even the descimated ones will take off once it gets some TLC again!

I LOVE SUNBULB,
I have a few bag babies and they all do wonderful. Some went into immediate spike or some already had spikes while in the bag

I buy from Lowes mostly. The HD here in Louisiana does not do the 50% discount on the out of bloom orchids. The baggy ones come from a different company than mentioned. I cant remember the name. But I have gotten several catts and onic in bud comming from the backages. Also I have a vanda that has trippled its size since I got it last year. I hope it will bloom soon.
