I've gone into the walmart here and seen every single orchid swimming. the water held in the pots by the cellophane and decorative pot around them in some cases they were 3 inches over the top of the pot. I have forbidden myself from getting more sad rescue orchids. so i went by and took them all out of there waterlogged pot and drained the extra water. luckily its a dead part of our store so no one saw me doing it, though if a person working in the department had come by they would have gotten an earful. I felt so bad for them :(

I picked up 2 bag babies from Lowes about 2 months ago for $2.50 each, they were both in great condition and the price was right.

The other Lowes that I go to also had bag babies at the same time, they were full priced and clearly had black rot. The person who works the plant section there in unbags them, so the infection spread very quickly. I let two employees know about the sick orchids, but they didn't do anything. The next time I went in that store the entire lot was black not removed from the shelf and still full price! Needless to say, I don't buy plants from that Lowes!

Great buy...but you'll have to be patient and wait for them to get big enough to flower...BettyE.

They have both previously bloomed. They were clearing them out to get ready for stuff like snow plows and salt!! Lol!!!!

I got a weird den aggregatum 'yellow velvet' x 'green elf' last month that I can't wait to see bloom, and I just found a den spectabile! at $12 each, they were impossible to pass up. now if only they would stock a brassavola cucullata!

other box store finds: a $1 doritis and $3 reticulated phal from lowes.

I buy baggie babies frequently. I find that they are a cheap "fix" until I have enough money to place another order with Kawamoto.
