You did the right thing to cut off the rotten roots, your messages seems to imply you have SOME good roots and that's a good thing.
You do not say what medium you have now put it in, have you changed it from what it was in or put it back in the same, what is that... moss, bark or...?
Also a picture is likely to help, did you take any pictures of what is left of the roots while you were repotting?
Just a quick note as well, a Dendrobium phalenopsis is not the same thing as Phal(aenopsis). Both Dendrobium and Phalaenopsis are different genuses of Orchid while Dendrobium phalenopsis (note the lower case p) is a species of Dendrobium.
Your orchid is most likely a hybrid of Den phalaenopsis, I have several of those, although it is possible it's the actual species.
