I've always watered my big Phal with spray - but not at night...see the thread on folial watering vs pot watering in the Advanced forum...in the house, the plants dry over night just as quickly as if they were watered in the morning - a/c or heat fan winter and summer keeps air circulating and temps even. But something certainly is bothering those two - and it must be water...I'll just spray the chips and the roots and see what happens. These two will have to be guinea pigs. Thanks for your response.

Anything I have ever read says not to water at night. Even in the house, night time temp. is usually a bit cooler and no sun to evaporate some of the moisture. If the sprayed water is running into the crown and collecting there, then you could be inducing crown rot. If new roots are growing, I would be tempted to water only the roots and media and maybe occasionally a fine mist on the leaves. All in the morning of course!

If coco chips or husks need to be rinse number times due to salt content, does the coco water or milk has salt too? -leo

I am thinking about using coconut water too, but i have some question:

1) can the coconut water induce keiki growth if i spray it on the plant?

2) how often do i need to spray it?

3) can i keep my unused coconut water in the freezer for future use?

4) what if i spray a pure coconut water without diluting? will it kill the plant?

5) does it have any effect on the roots or aerial roots?

It might be too soon to say, but since putting coconut milk on several orchids that were failing on April 25th, there is now at least one tiny shoot on each plant. It could be just coincidence but I had re-potted them quite a few weeks ago and was ready to give up looking for some new growth. Now less than 2 weeks after applying coconut milk, there are small signs. I just poured it on the pseudo bulbs and the rhizome connecting them. It looks like a new green pseudo bulb in both cases, but very small yet. The coconut is kind of greasy and makes a bit of a mess, but on the other hand, it likely sticks on the plant even when you water it so the plant may get the benefit from one application for longer. I will continue to see what happens!

I have also tried Coconut water, but I have also used few more things like sea weed extract and another growth booster.I have need roots and growth on all plants.
Now I spray coconut milk every month.
