How to grow bulbophyllum blumei? Female
Default How to grow bulbophyllum blumei?

Just curious, is bulbophyllum blumei hard to grow? I do not have a greenhouse, so I grow my orchids inside my house. My humidity ranges from 30-50%, and the temp is 65-80 deg F, depending on the season. I have lots of windows so light and space is no problem. I've grown a lot of hybrids (phals, dens, catts, oncs, cyms) but now I want to try something new.

Do you have any cultural advice? How are your experiences with growing this plant? Do you suppose I can grow it? (don't want to buy a plant only to see it die...)

Thanks for any info!

I'd say you've got a good shot.

B. blumei comes from a wide range of temperature conditions, so if you get one from someone growing in a more temperate environment (i.e., if you have a choice between a nursery in Chicago or one in Miami, go with Chicago) it will likely be better suited to your conditions.

They are very low-light plants, too, so can be the little guys under the taller plants without an issue.
