Epicattleya Pixie Charm - no bloom! Male
Default Epicattleya Pixie Charm - no bloom!

I bought an Epic. Pixie Charm several years ago from Green Acres Orchids in Lansing, MI (we miss you Cindy and Walt!). It had a lovely fragrance, but I have not been able to get it to rebloom. I've had at least six new pseudobulbs since - but not one flower.
During the indoor months it is in a south window with a sheer drape to cut the direct sun. (I believe that the sun in Michigan winters doesn't really qualify as direct sun! ) Summertime it goes outdoors in dappled sun. It seems healthy enough, I feed it regularly and even tried Bloom Booster to try to motivate it.
I'm 10 years into my orchid addiction and I'm wondering if it's time to start weeding out the non-performers and give them to a better home. Thanks for any advice!

I would try to increase the light - I have some catts in a south window - no sheer drapery or anything.
Also - how much do you fertilize?

I do pretty much the weakly-weekly. 1/4 tsp per gallon. Until recently it was in the direct south sun window. I just added the sheer because as we come out of the dead of winter the sun is getting stronger. Some of the cat types are getting the reddish "too much sun" look, so that's why I put up the sheer. Checked the temp in that window the other day and it was 87.
I wonder if there is any temperature sensitivity, a la Phals. I've got a Bllra that also grows well but won't spike, and I'm wondering if any of my problem spikers are more cool-growing.

It might need either a short or a long day treatment to initiate buds.
