The general advice for plieones is to water and feed fairly heavily during active growth, restrict watering and feeding in the fall, and stop altogether in the winter, when the leaves drop. Resume once leaves start growing again.

Plieone Vesuvius is a primary hybrid of P. x confusa (a natural hybrid of P. albiflora and P. forresti) and P. bulbocodioides, all of which prefer intermediate light levels and cool- to cold growing conditions.

also keep it drier and cooler during the winter. These plants can handle lower temps. This year I placed my plant in the refridgerator, although that might not always be neccesary as long as it is not too hot. I've kept my plant out of the fridge previous years.

I leave my spring flowering plieones in a cardboard box with some shredded newspaper in the refrigerator and just lightly mist them once a month or less until I see some growth start then they will go into a shallow tray with 1 part pearlite 1 part potting soil and 5 parts sphagnum moss. When they come out of dormancy you have to resist the urge to water a lot until the roots are well established. I don't have that hybrid but I do have forresti and bulbocodioides.
