Thanks Cattleya17!!! I can't believe I haven't smelled this yet!!! I can't wait to have mine in sheath/bloom. Mine had better be smelly this year or else!

ha lol! i sniffed my everyday as it opened and i didnt smell anything until it was fully opened and had thickened up. and when it got warm especially! you will get those blooms! i will be posting pics of mine when it blooms. the first sheath has ripped and the buds are exposed! they haven't started to swell or orient themselves. that is the best part!!!

Light levels for flowering orchids are only important until the flower buds set. After that they can be moved to low light and the buds will still form normally and flower.

Commercially we often move flowering plants to lower light to lengthen the life span of the flowers. We will also move them to cooler areas.

I would move it to the mantle to enjoy the flowers. My wife does it with all her favorites.

Thanks for the advice. The flowers are busting through the top and sides of the sheath, now. It looks like three flowers from this growth. Cannot wait. Cattleya17, I did the same thing. The one flower that is in bloom right now smells great and I can't wait to have four flowers in bloom. I will post pics when they open.
