Paph. Vini Hybrid and Phal. Yellow Butterfly 'Amber' - Orchid Board

Hey guys, I just ordered from Orchids by Hausermann. Very highly recommended so i though i'd give it a try. Pictures looked beautiful so I ordered a Paph. Vini Hybrid (small 2.5" pot seedling) and a Phal. Yellow Butterfly 'Amber.'

What does the "Vini Hybrid" mean??? Is it more of a general grouping of purple-colored paphs?? And does anyone have pictures of the phal??

Yes, it is a general grouping of Paphs that flower with very dark, wine-colored, almost black flowers. There are many different hybrids that fit this category.

Thank you so much Susan! I am just starting to learn about orchid nomenclature (and might I say it is VERY confusing!!!!

Vinis are just about my favorite Paphs, and you really can't go wrong with Hausermanns. They're one of the best there is.

Kim, I have to agree with you. I have seen many pictures of paphs and the greens just don't appeal as much as the reds/oranges/yellows! I just love the dark red/purple coloration.....

If the order is what I hope it will be (quality-wise), i definitely plan to order from them again. The plants I ordered were on sale; the paph only cost 6.50 and the phal was 7.95!!! Now that's one heck of a deal!!

I got in my Hausermann's order today! Sure enough the plants were amazing. The phal that I ordered is IN SPIKE and a bigger size than what I paid for! And the paph is TINY but healthy.....then again it was only six and a half dollars. I love the plants! It was well packed with lots of newspaper I plan to read at some point.

I'll post pictures in a day or two, but I just wanted to let everyone know that once again, Hausermann's has proven themselves to be excellent!

here are some pictures. The paph is only about 2 1/2" tall--I tried to include my hand in the pic to give you an idea of scale. The phal has a spike, too!!!!
