Sorry Doc, I meant to include that your plant looked fine from what I could see. I got a little sidetracked when I remembered those poor orchids at my campus!
I was mainly saying that Cattleyas have the potential to produce keikis. Like Phals, Catts can produce keikis when they are under stress, but also like phals, perfectly happy Catts may simply have "felt like" producing a keiki. If you're plant looks happy to you, it probably is, and you just have a new baby!
