Susanne, the picture of the system with "wines" are not mine but Mikaels. But I have a similar myself, but without the massive moss-growth. To form Epiweb into "wines" (never used the Ecoweb) you cut the material in stripes and trim the edges. Then you use a heating gun or a hair drier to heat the material wereafter you can form it. "Set it" by dipping it in cold water while you hold it in the shape you want.

EcoWeb is a US-made equivalent to EpiWeb, but less expensive, courtesy of local supply versus imported (and duty-free, thanks to NAFTA, for you Canucks out there).
Mikael Karlbom, the guy who originated Epiweb, does some amazing stuff with it and is really talented.
Tyler, neither material wick at all - you have to feed the water from above.

Right now my standard Ecoweb panels are 20" x 24", but in about a week, I'll have full 45" x 57" sheets available. If you want to get real serious, I can offer 57" x 50-yard rolls!

I took a piece of Ecoweb and heated it with a hair drier to soften it, then folded it in half. I inserted a piece of thick wire in the fold, so I could make a hook for hanging it, then hot-glued it together and trimmed the edges to make it cylindrical.
Rather than waiting for moss to grow from "seeding" it, I wrapped live moss around it, held in place with fishing line until it "grabs" the Ecoweb. The plant was added just yesterday.

I'm also building a prototype of a stand-alone "living wall" that I expect to sell in the future.
So-far, I've only gotten the pieces to construct it, but I have got the Ecoweb panel planted and with the plumbing in place to water it. Here it is, hanging in the greenhouse:
This panel will be fully supported and enclosed, with it's own reservoir, pump, and probably an optional T5 fixture for supplemental lighting in the top.
This one has tropical plants, but there is nothing to stop it from working for orchids, too.

Where can I get live moss? anyway wouldn't fertilizer salts kill the live moss eventually as naturally it grows in bogs with no nutrients and in acidic soil?

This is not bog moss, it's more like the stuff found growing on the ground. The particular type I have is very fluffy, and comes from the southeast somewhere, and likes the acidity of fertilizers, as long as they're not too strong.
The stuff in that picture above, has been getting the MSU stuff at about 100-125 ppm N for several weeks and shows no signs of deterioration.
I have it available.
