Another tip with proprietary brands like B and Q is to add Hydroleca which are fired clay balls, they really help open up peaty composts. B and Q also sell this - I think the brand is J. Arthur Bowers. I've had good results adding this and you can also use it as crocking in the bottom of pots and for creating pebble trays to increase air humidity.

The repot looks good and well done for rescuing a plant - orphans need love!!

Thanks everyone. She scrubs up well doesn't she?

Doing this has really increased my confidence

I've taken all your advice on board. I wasn't really taken with the potting mix either but figured it can't get much worse. I've emailed B+Q to ask about what their potting mix is actually made up of. If they reply, I'll add the info in case any other users might find it useful.

I'll be conservative when watering, perhaps every 10 days rather than every week. I'll dig my finger in

I'm dying to know what colour flowers might grow. It definitely deserves a rest but if it does flower I will make sure to add some photos!
