Help, Neofinetia Falcata is sick.....
This past Friday I received my long awaited Neofinetia Falcata and I was soooooo excited.
When I looked at it closer I noticed white spots all over the aerial roots which made me suspicious.
I took it out of the pot this morning and this is what I found. I am so sad...... Can I save it?
I am very afraid that I may kill it since I am a bit new at this.
Any advice would be appreciate.
Thank you.

The white spots on the aerial roots is perfectly normal.
I see nothing significantly wrong with that plant - yes, there are a few less-than-healthy roots, but there are enough others that look perfectly good, that it's probably not a major issue.
Unpotting and repotting a blooming plant can be stressful, however.

It's been over-watered, but don't worry too much about it. most of the Neos I've gotten were in that condition, and they're all doing well now. They're tough little plants. The white spots are normal, but you'll usually only see them when the roots are wet. Remove any brown, mushy roots, and rotten leaves, then re-pot it. let it dry out before watering again.
Next time you buy an orchid, re-pot it as soon as you get it home, even if it looks healthy.

Thank you Lambelkip...I feel so much better now. I was afraid that she was a very fragile little plant.....

Thank you Ray.
Yes, I was worried about the stress to the plant. I hope she will survive it though. Maybe it is better to take care of the rotten root now instead of waiting?

I've not tried Neo's but I would advise saving the roots rather than the flowers every time.

Neofinetias are pretty hardy. You should be fine.
Like Ray had said, there is nothing significantly wrong with this plant. There are definitely enough roots for it to bounce back.
Just to give you an idea, I have a hard time keeping the roots on my two Neofinetia falcata in the pot. That's the part of the plant that seems to grow like nobody's business.

Thank you "King of Orchid", that is very encouraging.....I hope that by re potting it I won't lose the flowers. They look so delicate!
