Austin, Can't answer that question other than to say by the time the growth, spike/keiki, is 1/2" or so you will know (Pic 13, 14)

:-) Thanks for sharing these pictures. It makes it very clear how to use Keiki paste.
On German board I read that if temperatures 25C and up, it's more likely to get keikis instead of spikes. Could that be true?

Verrrrry cool Biker!! I love the pics!
But I see in one pic, you've got every node Growing something!
Did you, should we, can we put that Paste on every node on a spike??
Or paste only ONE node per spike??
How many nodes can we paste up, per spike??

Oh, and how long should we let sit to 'dry'? A day, week?
As mine our 99% outside, and all the rain, not sure off.
So how long should they stay 'dry' for the Paste to set?

I think hormone goes in circle and may activate other nodes or meristematic cores

Jkelee
This particular product is hormones in a lanolin base, rain won't wash it off, They also make a rooting version and an antifungal for use when dividing.

First, Jackie....what's with the BIKE!!!! Nice ride!!!! And its name might be?????????
And as John has said, the product I'm using is lanolin based so the node should be "dry" when you apply and the rain won't affect the paste once in place. The instructions I have for this product state up to 3nodes on a spike/plant; too many and it is too taxing for the plant. So if your plant has 3 spikes you could do one on each.... I don't know how temperature, day/night cycles, etc influence the production of a spike vs keiki. I've only read that you must wait at least a week or more AFTER the last flower has opened. Even waiting significantly longer, sometimes I get these grotesque looking spikes as is pictured above.
