Question Showing orchids

So,

I think I'm going to submit my teeny phal orchid for the Redlands show in May.

What are the rules for showing orchids? Where can I find information as to the rules? (I"ve looked and I can't find anything)

If you've shown orchids before, what do you do to prepare?

When you take the plant to the venue, does anyone take care of it? What if your orchid (like mine) requires daily watering?

Do you have to pay a fee?

What happens if you win? Do you get to pick a name for that particular plant? Is it pictured anywhere?

I'm confused...Help!!!

You might want to do a search of Redland Orchid Show to find more information.
It might be that all display areas are already spoken for unless you belong to a local Orchid Society.
The show should have a Show schedule that has the plant categories in it to enter your plant in the proper class.
I have never been to the Redland Show but my guess is, that not only the show is AOS judged but is also ribbon judged. If your plant would get pulled for AOS judging and receives a award then you would get to give the plant a clonal name. The shows that I have entered do not charge to enter plants.
I did recieve my first AOS award in December of 2008 on a Dendrobium that was taken to the judging center in Chicago. CCM 81 points

I don't know anything about the Redlands show but around here you can take something to be judged that is not part of a display. They have a seperate area for singleton entries.

It will be your responsibility to take care of your plant.

The only fee involved is if your plant wins an award.

Oregon has AOS judging once per month in Portland area. To get ready for a show, clean up the plant, make sure it is pest free, Clean the leaves (I use lemon juice and water). I always put an return address label somewhere on the pot so I won't lost the plant. I also put some sphag on the top of the media, just so it looks better. Remember, the judges are looking at the flower. If the plant is especially well grown and a specimen plant, then they may look at the plant itself for a cultural award. the AOS website may have some stuff on watering. If you don't belong to a local society, you might be better off going to the regional judging which is usually done on a Sat. AM. That way, you don't leave your plant there for days, etc. Look on the AOS website for the regional judging. They also go to Tacoma, and Vancouver, BC. Betty

When I looked back, I realized you were in Florida. Look for the Florida regional judging. Redlands is a big show and for a first timer, I would think a local society show is your best bet. Join a society and you will really benefit from the group. I know I really learned a lot and am still learning. Betty

I just googled the Redlands show and found the following address Redland International Orchid Festival

This should answer all your questions.
