Default Does anybody use "Mist Maker"?

Keeping a decent humidity level has been a challege for indoor growers like myself.

I found a small mist maker at a local nursary and started using inside of my "vanda house." It appears that the humidity level is now between 70-75% during the day. It is set to go off 1 hour prior to the lights being turned off in the evening.

But, I am curious if there are anything which can be harmful for my 'chids.'

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

ps. the picture was taken before the mist maker was added.

Hi Naoki! I don't think there is anything from the mist maker that can harm your orchids. A mist maker was encluded in my set up when I purchased my orchidarium from orchidarium.com. My problems was I couldn't find a dish that was wide enough to catch all the splashes and all of the water would just splash out before the mist maker could really do it's job, either the containers were to deep or not wide enough and the model I had did not have a splash guard that was made for it to solve the problem. I still have mine sitting in a tote of orchid supplies...lol My experience probably doesn't help you much but I thought I would still share with you anyways...lol.

Can you describe the mist maker? Is it a spray?

Although I did not pay as much as this one, this link should give you an idea of the mist maker.

I have that. I just call it an ultrasonic fogger.
This basically just fog. All water, as far as I know. Both animal and plant safe. I've been using one for about two weeks now and am really tempted to get more.

Molly, does your fogger really increase the humidity of the entire enclosure? Thanks.

At first, I was very skeptical. Surprisingly, it is working in the enclosed area. The humidity level is 80% now.

So, Becca. Do you leave yours on all day long or on a timer?

The instructions on mine said not to leave them on for longer than 8 hrs. Do you?

Tindomul, that's good to know. Mine did not really have the "instruction." I will adjust the timer accordingly tomorrow morning.

I was going to put it on a timer so it would come on every so often during the day, but all of the water would splash out with the first use of the day so I didn't have the opportunity to try it out multiple times during the day on a timer. You may have a different model then what I have though.
