My L. anceps get a lot of fog in the winter, we have night-time condensation most nights. I water them on the same schedule as my outdoor catts. They are potted in large bark in shallow pots. Coastal Southern California.

Thank you for your input, 4orchids

I think I have now got my head round this subject - while some books refer to the low rainfall during their flowering season, the orchids are in fact, getting their fair share of moisture from the dew and light drizzle.
