I Can't Believe
I can't believe I did this a second time to the same plant!!!! Last year I posted this thread ( Blc Memoria Crispin Rosales #2) . Well, this year a beautiful spike grew and had 4 flowers on the end of the spike and the weight had the spike doubled over on itself! So in my infinite wisdom I said to myself, "Self this wants me to give it some support!" And off I went to give it support .... the end result....
I don't think I'm going to have the same dumb luck I had last year NOT!

I'm so sorry for you. I haven't done it as yet, but i can understand your pain. There is a good article in Orchids this month about staking spikes. It really peaked my interest on the proper way to present plants and how to control the bloom directions. Have a glass of brandy and you can tell your plant that you'll never do this to it again. Makes you feel awful, doesn't it? I'm sure we've all done it, though.

Hey Doc.... how are you on sutures? Given a fine enough needle, and a steady hand, I'll bet you can stitch this puppy back together
