Default Phal Curiosity?

I've been watching this phal grow what appears to be a basilar keiki but it isn't growing from the base but higher on the stem.....just different, I guess.

That's funny looking! It seems like the phal wanted to grow a spike, and then sudddenly decided that a keiki would be better. That's another thing I love about orchids: their ability to constantly suprise you with one thing or an other!

Hi Biker

I have a Phal with 4 or 5 basal keikis that come up at different locations...it really adds to the "very full" effect of the plant. I will take a picture later so you can see what I mean

Here are a few pictures of my Phal Brother 'Maraldee' which is fragrant too!

...and it all started with one little basal keiki:

Thanks, Sue. Your plant is very nice. I do have a phal that had crown rot and has now grown three basilar keikis. I just haven't seen these guys grow something this high on the stem....

Susanne

Your mericlone wins the Genetic Novelty Contest so far.
Strong, healthy, and fragrant too?

I want one.
