Unhappy I Can't Believe I Did That!!!!

I was working in the greenhouse this morning, taping the new plasic frames DH made, clogging up those air holes ya know. Trying to do a good thing.

While he was installing these panels I had to move my orchds all over the place to keep them out of harms way.

So, I was also trying to get everything back in it's original place. I have a couple that got knocked over and figured I was lucky!

I set those to the side, planning to repot them later.

Okay, I'm up on the ladder taping seams when all of a sudden I get really hot and sick to my stomach. That's when it dawned on me I hadn't eaten breakfast.

I went to the house with every intention of going back to the greenhouse, I swear! But then the shingles were delivered. (wind damage from hurricane Ike) and something else came up I can't remember. Then my sister called......

It's suppose to get really cold tonight and I just now remembered the top vent is open, so I got the flashlight and went out there....and...

My vanda's were sitting on the stove!!!! And it was on!! I think they're gonners. They have this yellow hue to them and one is as limp as a rag.

I'm officially a VM! (vanda murderer) and a total nitwit!!

Oh Debs, sorry about your baby but don't feel so bad...we've all gotten involved in this thing we call life in the middle of this thing we call our addiction and sometimes the two don't play nice together

If you have the room, keep it around for a while to see what happens. If it doesn't make it, chalk it up to experience and if it does come through...

Oh the poor things! How many vandas did you leave on the stove? Hopefully they will survive if you give them a lot of TCL and a lot patience. If not, well, you will have learned to never leave a plant on the stove, even if you think you will be back in 2 minutes! Sometimes the toughtest lessons are learned through stupid mistakes. (Been there, done that! )

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Aww man I hurt for you. On the bright side I guess leaving the oven on or anything like that could have resulted in a bigger emergency. That is a brighter side right?
It's maybe possible they aren't dead??? Keep us posted.

I totally feel for you, that stinks!!! I hate distractions, and telephones!! I killed a vanda recently because, unbelieveably enough, it got too much sun on my windowsill and essentially cooked to death. I think I have to get another one anyways; people say they can grow them in full southern sun, and I'm determined to do it!!!

I am so sorry to hear that! I feel for you. I would have been so upset. I hope some of them are salvageable. At the very least, you will probably never make that same mistake. Keep us posted on their status!

Don't feel bad, we have all done silly things like that... we learn from our mistakes.

I've done something similar.. and totally cooked my Vanda in an afternoon. oh well..
