Exclamation my dendrobium keiki is rotting!!


i just need urgent help.. so, i just want to tell i have a 1 and a half inch keiki on a separated cane it is growing very fast and has 4 roots on it. but the p-roblem is on one side of the keiki, there is a black spot where the tissue is semi soft! how do i control it?/????

Try coating the spot with cinnamon powder - yes, the spice.

it just comes out from the cane depends on how healthy ur plant is. usually if a keiki appears u have to wait for the keiki to grow usually 2 inches is enough... then transfer it. I use charcoal since the weather here is humid and i water my plants every morning this kind of medium will ensure the roots will be dry by night!

Sorry to hijack the thread, but only the keiki needs to be 2 inches?? I have been waiting for the roots to be 2 inches.

In general, there should be at least a total of 4 total inches of roots prior to removing and potting a keiki

well yeah 3-4 roots is good the roots the longer the better. wrap then in moss... to get better absorbtion.

I agree with Ray, try the cinnamon. I've had very good luck with it. I wish you well with your keiki!
