Hi Lee,

I wouldn't worry about them at all, so long as they are being watered.

It's my opinion that not fertilizing your chids for a couple or even a few weeks will not harm them. In fact just watering them for that amount of time may actually benefit them by leaching out some of the built up fertilizer salts in their growing medium. Just resume your regular fertilizing routine when you're able to.

I hope that your surgery and post-op rehab go without incident.

Lee, I hope your surgery and rehab go well. I've had two arthros on my right knee but really need a replacement, they just don't want to do it yet. Everybody I know who has had one done has said they wished it had come sooner!

As David said...don't worry about feeding the chids. They'll be just fine as long as they're being watered.

As for the "Public groups" question, OB offers a private forum to orchid societies (unfortunately not many have taken advantage of this wonderful option ) and the folks who would be in those groups would be included in the "groups" list. You have nothing to be concerned with.

Good luck with your surgery, let us know when you're ready to go for a run!

Lee you will be out with your orchids before you know it.
Had rather radical surgery for cancer 8 years ago and couldnt wait to get out with my orchids, its the best therapy in the world. Was not supposed to lift after surgery but repotting was well with in my range until I tangeled with a 20 gal pot. It about did me in. Just do what your doctor tells you and you will be alright and so will your orchids. Get active again and dont let this surgery take anymore away from you than absolutely necessary. Oh yea I caught a 60 lb shark before they took the stitches out - not a good idea.

Orchids3... Thanks for giving a surgical recovery room nurse a chance to laugh out loud. At least you're here to warn us of such hazards...I'll have to start telling my patients not to go shark fishing until after the stitches are removed...
