do you have it indoor in a house, in a greenhouse or where? i have had a blissfully ick free collection for most of my entire life with orchids, i'm very careful or very lucky, not sure which. always good to know what plants might be magnets for stuff.

besides the scale issue how did you like growing them?

I mostly have had the spath indoors, which is where the scale appeared. Then I started getting some on my phals. I found it easier to contol on the phals. The spath grows and multiplies quite quickly and the leaves are pretty, but easily dammaged if the plant recieves too much light. Though, from what I understand, they are supposed to need quite a bit of light.

I've seen how Spathoglottis plicata grow in the wild. They grow in between rock crevices in constantly moist places in shade, and intermediate conditions (55 F - 90 F), in moderate to high humidity (60% - 90%).

Just to give you an idea of how wet...

The place where I saw this one particular group of Spathoglottis plicata at was at the base of a collapsed waterfall where the water was still going through the rocks where the orchids were growing. I slipped on the wet rocks and almost fell.

It sounds like they might do well in S/H
I haven't allowed mine to dry out, but I have been giving it too much light. I have once again picked off the scale, sprayed and put it on a shaded plattform in my cherry tree. One more try.
