What is your typical fertilization program for masdies expressed in nitrogen concentration and fertilyser distribution frequency? Many thanks for your informations.

I have had luck with MSU 13-3-15 fertilizer mixed with distilled water. I use fertilizer on the plants every third or second watering... so maybe once or twice a week. They are not heavy feeders and they really hate salts and minerals building up in their medium.

I use complete fertilizers, either 7-9-5 Dyna Gro or 13-3-15 MSU-type, mixed to about 150ppm N on all my orchids. The only difference in procedure between different orchid types is the frequency with I which I fertilize them. Masdevallias get fed once every 7 days or so (like Alfonso, every second watering).

Sometimes I intentionally skip a week of fertilizing them in order to "flush" the roots out well, but I doubt it has much effect or is necessary. Just an old habit.
