Default Subvariations in orchids

Hello all

I recently recieved a plant with a name tag that reads

Slc. Hazel Boyd 'Elizabeth' subv. 'Debbie'

???

does this mean that during mericloning the plant experienced a mutation in flower color, I notice upon a search that Elizabeth is a neat orange and yellow while my plant has scarlet red flowers. Has anybody else run into something like this.

I have never seen a tag written in that manner. It is doubtful that Hazel Boyd 'Elizabeth' would mutate to a red flower....The original Hazel Boyd cross had a range from red to orange to yellow/

I am not sure how the horticultural code works but it seems like you can have a sub- anything in the botanical code.

So... a subvariety seems like it would be okay for botanical species but for a hybrid it seems a little wierd.

It is probably just a clerical error or something that a grower who has not been formally trained in taxonomy put on one of his plants because he thought it was something interesting or special

I dont believe Carmelas orchids is a beginner so I am going with the clerical error, I will have to ask what the tag means. It seems very strange.
