Default Lincoln Park Botanical Garden

I visited my son in Chicago this past weekend. He lives relatively close to the Botanical Garden. So the Air and Water show was going on and we took a trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo, the Garden and the Air Show. The Garden is very nice...a bit small but nice just the same. Of course, my interest was the orchid house. They had two Phal's of interest to me because of their beautiful flowers. Sorry, didn't have my camera so no pics....but I can't find either of them online anywhere....the 1st is Phal Brother Pirate King x Taida Rose and the other is Phal Taipai Gold Brother Paradise x Coral Lake x Ruey Lih Stripes. I hope to revisit Labor Day and will bring

Shame on a professed camera buff! No camera! Don't make sense. Doesn't register! We need pictures, Doc! And you, of all people must be humbled by the fact you didn't bring your number one tool!

That orchid house at Lincoln Park Zoo sure is small, but they have some VERY interesting things in there! They had lots of Dendrochilum cobbianum hanging everywhere, and Phrag. walisii in its full glory. Then it leads to all them ferns! I've never seen such a thing as that setup!

Once you go to Lincoln Park, go out to the Garfield Park Conservatory too. It doesn't have the orchid area that Lincoln Park does, but it's much bigger, and "different". A great plant lover's place.

They often have art exhibits (sculpture, glass, etc.) in with the plants too.

Is Garfield north of the city? I know there is a large botanical area where they hold a yearly Orchid Conference....
