Default Garfield Park - and other places

It is on the west side, but still inside the city. You can even take public transit if you are so disposed. Here is a link to their site:

Garfield Park Conservatory

The place you are thinking of is (I believe) the Chicago Botanic Gardens. They are in Glencoe (a suburb 20-25 miles north of the city). They do have orchid shows there at times. Their web site is:

Chicago Botanic Garden

Not to overload you with "Chicago plant/Orchid stuff", but if you are there at the end of September, there is a Chicagoland Orchid Festival that takes place at several growers FAR out in the suburbs/exurbs (maybe 50 miles northwest and west). A few big growers open their greenhouses, and there are "guest growers" from around the country (and the world) with plants for sale. They (or the "host growers") will ship plants home for you. That web site is:

Chicagoland Orchid Festival

If you happen to go to this, I especially recommend Oak Hill and Windsong . . . they usually have many more guest growers (and they are fun places to see and visit). I'll be there.

Well, that pretty much takes care of your whole trip; I hope your son understands. Sorry to be such a "booster", but I have another home in Chicago, and spend lots of (very enjoyable) time there.

Seriously, I hope this will be helpful.

Ed
