Sorry "cloudswinger" but CITES applies to ALL orchids & that includes hybrids as well. There are certain types of hybrids that are basically exempt from CITES but they have to be in flower ( for less than a certain number )& anything over that can be without flrs BUT must be IDENTICAL in looks. I am not sure if Catt's are in this catagory or not. Both "nobile" & "Phalananthe" Dens are on the list & Phal's as well. It is true that one does not need CITES for flasks unless you are/were getting Phrag.kovachii from Peru. Further more, country of origin does not come into it eg I can sell Catt.species & hybrids from Thailand but I still need to get CITES to export.

Thanks, after reading some more, it does clarify some things. Some species Catts are on the list. I did find that US interpretation can be stricter than some other countries. So that if the species parents of a hybrid have not been released by the native country, then importing them to the US from a third country would still be illegal.

"Cloudswinger", just out of curiosity what Catt's are on your "restricted" list ??. I was under the impression that one could export/import all Catt.species. Correct me if i am wrong but as far as I know the only Catt's to be "discovered" recently have been natural hybrids & the only Catt's on/were on appendix one were Catt.trianiae & skinneri & that there was a proposal by Colombia to take C.trianiae of App.1 & put it on App.2
