Default ODD thing with Polyrrhizza

I decieded to remove the moss from the mount, in the process there were a couple of roots that were not attached to the plant. This mount had about a mile of line on it. I put the moss and plant fragments in a glass and forgot about it. A week passes, find it hard as a rock but roots are nice and green. After a good soak they appear very much alive. Anybody know if it is possible for these to become plants? It also seems odd that they are alive at all given the nature of Poly. lind.

I think you got the same thing I did. I bought one from Oak Hill, a couple months ago. They were having a sale on them, said they were "larger plants than normally sold at this price." When I received it, there was algae growing behind the moss. So, upon removal of the mount (and cutting many wraps of fishing line, as you did) I found that it was actually just 6-7 seedlings, all tied together.

I'm still too scared to buy one. I'd much rather spend my money on a phal that i can keep alive.

I just saw the pic, it is tiny, but hey if could stand being without water and pretty much dry for a week I think you've got some kinda method going on there.

The entire plant was not neglected, just the root frags. The thing that gets me is the fragments look healthier than the plant itself!! Yes a whole week in a glass NO water NO humidity to speak of either.Light nope practicaly zero, this is why I found this ODD?

If they are root fragments, they will not form new plants. The roots may linger a bit, but will dry up eventually.

Although they have no leaves, they still grow from a meristem. This growing point is the 'crown' so to speak, keep it happy and healthy and it will grow new roots.
