in an issue of orchids magazine a few years ago it had an article about how different temperatures affect flower color. this might be why they are different.

The flowers on the motherplant and the keiki are not the same! Female

The keiki keeps blooming with the same flowers every year and grows in the same room as the motherplant and the other keikis. The temperature can't be different and they are growing under the same light all four(not fluorescent).

Thanks for the explanation Eric! That sounds probable.
