Renewed Hope - Orchid Board

I know this won't be very interesting or even noteworthy but I am offering this picture to those of us that have knocked off an orchid or two...for me, well, I'm well past the "terrible 2's". There is hope for those near dead phals as this picture reveals. They say, "Better lucky than good.", and I would agree. As you can see the massive crown rot and the three new growths...and flower spike(well the flowers have finally died, just lazy about cutting it off). I have several other phals that I almost knocked off this past year and have put out basal growth....so for all you guys and gals who have chids that you don't think will make it because of crown rot, hold on and give it your best shot...at least until the fat lady or man has sung...

I guess patients does pay off! I will keep that in mind next time...I think I have tossed a few that my patents grew short with after a few months! Thanks for sharing!

Way to go, Doc. I've had that happen to a few of my Phals too. As long as the whole thing isn't mush, I just cross my fingers, and give it another chance. These guys can survive a lot more than we may think.

I've always heard "if you think it's dead, hold on to it for a year to make sure"

You can also stop crown rot from progressing if you catch it early enough. Put a few drops of hydrogen peroxide directly into the crown, let it sit for a few minutes, then empty it out. I've saved a few by doing this...but you have to be aware of what's happening with the chids in an up-close-and-personal kind of way every day

OK what is the secret? How did you do it?, I have one with crown rot but it still has one leave and I would like to save it.

Like I said, "Better lucky than good." I have others with crown rot that are doing nothing. I am trying Keiki Pro on a spike to see if this will generate some action...jury is still out on this one.
