What kind of Dendrobium is it? Is it a cold-growing kind then you can keep it warm the entire year and skip the "cold and dry period". Then all the "buds" will turn into keikis instead so you will get keikis all along the bulb.
(If you don't mind waiting about a year for them)
Or you can cut off an old bulb and stick it down in some sphagnum moss it will produce a few keikis.
If it's a big bulb you can cut it in pieces. But keep about 2-3 nodes a piece.
The warm groing ones I don't really know.
