I do not know about forcing but my keikis just grow on the dens ... however recently I put some pieces of broken dens in my anthurium pots where it is moist and shady and nearly every piece had a keiki or a new plant growing from it at the ring on the dens... reminds me how sugarcane was planted when we grew it in Trinidad in Central where I live.....

What kind of Dendrobium is it? Is it a cold-growing kind then you can keep it warm the entire year and skip the "cold and dry period". Then all the "buds" will turn into keikis instead so you will get keikis all along the bulb. (If you don't mind waiting about a year for them)

Or you can cut off an old bulb and stick it down in some sphagnum moss it will produce a few keikis. If it's a big bulb you can cut it in pieces. But keep about 2-3 nodes a piece.

The warm groing ones I don't really know.

Good luck!

We buy whole BBQ chicken in a 'bubble box' container and these I afterwards recycle for use for dendrobium, epidendrum and phaius stem propagations. I wipe the contained with alcohol and place a 2 inch layer of clean live sphagnum moss - sometimes I use boiled sphagnum instead - place the canes lengthways on top of the damp sphagnum, label then spray lightly with some SuperThrive, close container and leave under the cool shaded greenhouse bench until keikis grow and are touching the cover top. This can take many months in some cases.

Some types are more prone to sprout keikis if given excess fertilixer.
