help my newly repotted phalaenopsis

everyone i,m new here.
and i just almost worship this forum
i just bought a new phal today.it was extremely healthy but also extremely root bound .
so, i repotted it in pure coconut thread fibre.
it has new growth,and a lot of green growing tips on roots. and also has new roots forming.but during repotting,i accidentally partially snapped 4 of the long roots.
so, my question is that will the snapped roots heal?,will the plant adjust and will it grow and survive?

Hi those snapped roots will eventually shrivel and die. I wouldn't too much worry yourself as you mention your Phal has new roots forming. It's already adjusting by showing new grow.

That happened to me also, when I was repotting my Phal orchid, some of the roots got snapped completely off. That may be why my orchid now is sulking. The leaves are droopy, but firm and healthy-looking. I'm now waiting for it to get over it and perk up. It's not dead, that's the important thing. So don't worry, yours should be okay too.

A snapped root is not a dead root. What snaps is actually the velamen, which is what absorbs moisture to transport it to the root (which is the thin wirey strand in the center.) If the strand in intact, the root can still function just fine. The cracked part can often partially heal over with time, but it seems that their lifespan is shorter than a healthy intact root.

I find my orchids (phals, catts etc..) to be hearty souls and a snapped root or two during repotting doesn't even phase them. With more practice you won't even snap one. I say buy yourself another phal so you get twice the practice
