HELP Cymbidium buds dropping Female
Default HELP Cymbidium buds dropping

Hi everyone
I really need your help. I have posted threads here before regarding my Mom's Cymbidium that has not bloomed for about 20 years. It finally has a flower spike. But, it keeps dropping its buds. I noticed the flower spike December 30th. The spike was facing the window so I turned it so that I could see the buds. I think that may have been a HUGE mistake. Every day it drops more buds.
It now has only 5 flower buds left.
Thank you in advance for your comments and suggestions.

They don't like hot and dry environments. Is it near a radiator or heat duct?

Moving it probably didn't harm it. (I move Cyms all the time in spike and don't seem to have a problem, though growing outdoors may be different) The first thing that I think about is water... heated indoor air is really dry. And Cyms like to stay on the damp side. So do be sure you're keeping it well-watered. A bit of misting around the buds might help too, especially if there is sticky sap around them.

Thank you Roberta and Estacion.
There is sticking sap around the buds. I will mist the buds that are left. Hopefully this will save them.
I am keeping it well watered and it is not close to a heat source.

I noticed there's an accordion leaf in the photo. That's a sign of not enough water.
I don't know how is your climate but Cymbs are not meant to be grown indoors, not only because they are huge, but also because indoors there's not enough light as well as the temp drop needed to bloom.
