What books can I read to soak up these things? XD

In general plants don't do photosynthesis to the max, even if all ingredients are there, when there is low sink demand. Google or AI on "relation photosynthesis and low sink demand" A practical example is when you have a rose bush in leaves in summer, and you prune away all active growing points, photosynthesis will drop in the remaining leaves. Sure orchids with pseudobulbs etc have some food storage but my take is that the majority of species are stepping up photosynthesis after fertilization. Though it doesn't mean that 100% of the energy required for growing the capsules can be obtained from increased photosynthesis.
