Hi all, I've been searching for those simple thin plastic plant labels that I have seen in many orchid plants I've purchased over the years and I can't seem to find anyone making these labels or even a machine to do it for me (at least one that costs less than $900). I got into a flask-buying frenzy and now I have around 200 orchids that need labels. I know I could just write out the names, but I figure printed labels look more professional and they tend to last longer.
Does anyone have any experience buying these labels, or have any idea where I could go to purchase custom but very simple/cheap black and white plant labels?
Thank you in advance for any advice you may have.
If you search Orchid Board for "brother label printer" you will find this old thread. Prices are no longer accurate. Ray describes printing a label on transparent sticky tape, then pasting it onto a standard plastic label. Want durable, legible labels?
I use labels from DPIND.com. A thousand fit into a smaller box than you may think. I bought the 6" x 5/8" and cut them in half with a scissors to make two labels.

Brother printer labels……..I use them to label my plug trays and stud plants. Long lasting and hold up well, but since my platinum mine went dry I don’t think I could afford to brother label ten thousand pots…….
I use a Dymo Label printer. The roll of tape that came with the printer was a paper label but that can be used to practice using the printer.
The labels dont last forever, the black print does fade over time but I've still been able to read labels even after 3 years. I usually refresh the label when I repot anyway.
I bought rolls of the plastic tape in white to begin with and a few months ago I decided to do labels in different colours for different orchid genus. Makes it a bit easier to narrow it down when looking for a certain plant instead of searching through a sea of white labels.
I think I paid about AU$25 for the printer and for a 12 pack of several different coloured tapes cost about $40, the white is cheaper cant recall the cost of those.
