Anyone has experience with seaweed derivatives as additive/hormone/vitamins/minerals? Am not suggesting a specific product bcse there is a myriad of trademarks different from one country to another. Seems that there is one common hormone called giberylline. Seems also that it is mostly used on foliage. Could it be safe to use on epiphytic roots? As main fertilizer?

I use a seaweed fertilizer in my irrigation water once a month. But be careful as I find some brands can alter the ph to below 4 Some plants seem to love the stuff others appear indifferent . Coelogynes and Dens. do well . My Coelogyne Cristata flowered the best ever a year after i started using seaweed .

I have tried and used seaweed extract and fish emulsion in the past. What I realized later was that some of this actually contained a high level of salt and this was very bad for some orchids, even at low concentations. But again, I am sure that there are now some products on the market that are purer and with realiable content formula information. I sure do like the idea of using something natural, but this is not always the safest.

After my monthly flush cycle with tap water to remove excess salts. I use Seasol Seasol International

My plants are doing well, considering how cheap it is I just do it.
