Orchid suppliers in the UK

Hi Board,

I recently moved to the UK from India and I am planning to start my limited collection here in the UK, and I am bit choosy now. I am looking for Phrags, Anguloa, Angrecums, Draculas some novelty Phals. And, I am looking for big or multi growth plants.

Experts here please suggest where to find right sellers, All of Ebay sellers I came across are offering single growth plants. I am looking for advice.

Some vendors bring pre-ordered plants to shows, for pickup or shipping. Have a look at the Ecuagenera schedule. They sell very nice Phrags, Anguloas and Draculas.

Since Brexit we are pretty mych devoid of any decent orchid suppliers here in the UK. I suppose our most stable is Burnhams but even they just seem to peddle the same standard inconsequential stuff. Your best bet will be to try to tap some specific growers of your chosen genera if you want mature type plants. We always relied upon imports from the EU for top class goods but these days DEFRA imposes such strict rules and exhorbitant charges for import that it is just not cost effective. Indeed, a while ago, before Brexit, I tried importing from non-EU but the authorities were not just unhelpul they were obstructive that as a private individual they wouldm make things unachievable. I gave up.

Thank you claypot for the info. I understand things got complicated.

I learnt that ecuagenera will be able to send Dracula and Phrags hybrids and paperwork is taken care by them. But they do not ship Anguloa and Angrecum to the UK. Please help me with any info of suppliers who deals with Angrecums and Anguloa

I am starting with an order with EliteOrchids meanwhile I find anyone here.

There is a guy in the UK who posts on YT as Micks Masdevallias. He also grows carnivorous plants. He is a great grower with immaculate greenhouses at his home.
Once he knew Brexit was definitely going to happen and would put an end to easily available plants he setup a website.
He uses the website not only to sell his plants but where other growers across the UK can post their plants for sale.
Im not sure how many other UK growers use his selling site.

I've ordered from orchidbotanics and they were good plants. They have plenty of the more rarer species but not the exact ones you're looking for.

My assessment does not just come from what I see on his 100+ videos over 3 years. It is also based on other peoples comments on his videos and also other orchid growing YTubers who have actually bought from him amd made comments on their channels on the quality of his plants.
