I’ve only ever used Zerene Stack. It works well.

Also, if you want really high class images, make sure you check out the post processing filters such as those offered by Topaz. These will lift the quality of your images many times over and blow away the hardware limitations which were so much a feature of photography in the past (especially macro). They really do work.

Topaz Labs: AI Image Quality Software

Its all about getting past hardware limitations. Stack with stacking software to get unlimited dof, then denoise, balance and sharpen with post processing filters. Your images will be so far above the quality of what comes out of the camera you will be wondering if they really are yours - no hyperbole there at all.

I downloaded Zerene and will try it out later today.

It is frequently that I am trying to use gimp to fix an image to enhance edges, de-speckle, or find edges. The products from Topaz look pretty cool.

Thanks!
